MY PROCESS
I am a strong advocate of using the UX Double Diamond method in addition to a dual-track agile design schedule. These combined processes facilitate a research driven and user-centrist approach to product design.
1
HYPOTHESIS
Collaborate with the product team and business to determine their vision, what they want to achieve, and collect assumptions to be validated during research. Also audit and collect any additional known information available.
2
DISCOVER
Conduct Discovery Research to collect user needs and pain points in order to remove guess work, validate assumptions, and inform potential features. At this stage we may also map customer journeys, create empathy maps, and build user personas.
3
DEFINE
Product team translates research and ideas collected to define the problem they are solving for. We can then explore how to solve the problem by facilitating workshops, white boarding, user flows, and wireframes. This step may also include a technical evaluation to understand and avoid any technical obstacles.
4
CONCEPT
Taking the definitions provided by product, we can now ideate concepts and create interactive prototypes for rapid user testing. These designs may iterate a few times prior to a final solution being agreed upon by the product team.
5
DELIVER
The experience receives its final polish via annotations and specifications for developers to ensure designs are built to expectations.
6
SOLUTION
Lastly, coded solutions undergo quality assurance checks to ensure the final release meets the project’s requirements, business goals, and user needs.
